José Marques

I'm José, a Supply Chain Program Manager based in Maastricht, with over 10 years of experience at Mercedes-Benz, Stanley Black & Decker and Canon Production Printing. I'm Portuguese, I've lived and worked in a few different countries, and I speak Portuguese, English, Spanish and Dutch.

Most of my career has been about taking messy, complex situations and turning them into something clear that people can actually work with! Today I lead global programs at Canon covering logistics systems, digitization and supplier optimization, working with teams across IT, procurement, operations and senior leadership. Before that, I led improvement programs at Stanley Black & Decker and handled international reverse logistics projects at Mercedes-Benz.

I hold a PMP, a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management, but what I enjoy most isn't the methodology itself. It's getting a group of people with different priorities to agree on a direction and then seeing it through. I like structure, I like data, and I like being the person who brings everything together!

I'm also an AI Ambassador at Canon, which means I spend part of my time helping colleagues understand how AI can make their work easier. It's something I'm genuinely excited about, and I'd love to keep growing in that direction.

I work well with distributed teams and different cultures, and I'm comfortable working independently. I'm looking for remote roles in program management, supply chain transformation or logistics technology, ideally at a company that values ownership, clear communication and continuous improvement.

Outside work I'm pretty active. I play football every Saturday, tennis twice a week and train at the gym most days. I played cello competitively for many years, which taught me a lot about discipline and handling pressure. I also enjoy strategy games, where I run an online community of players, and scuba diving is next on my list.
