John Omoju
@johnomoju
I build AI-powered genomics tools for precision medicine and global health.
What I'm looking for
At Covenant University, I develop machine-learning pipelines for genomic, proteomic, and clinical datasets, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, GWAS, variant calling, and biomarker discovery. I build reproducible bioinformatics workflows and deep-learning models with TensorFlow and PyTorch for clinical prediction and diagnostic support.
My work bridges the wet lab and computational biology. At the Nigerian Institute of Medical Research, I performed molecular diagnostics, cell culture, ELISA, and malaria vector-control research while coordinating sample-referral logistics for viral-load PCR assays.
Alongside research, I work at Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, where I deliver clinical laboratory investigations, manage LIMS documentation, and support data integrity and regulatory compliance. I have also built projects in malaria AI diagnostics, cancer computer-aided diagnosis, multi-omics integration, GWAS, and laboratory information systems.
I'm driven to turn AI, computational genomics, and translational medicine into practical tools for precision diagnostics and equitable global health, particularly for African populations underrepresented in biomedical research.
