James Stanley
@jamesstanley
I’m a consulting meteorologist and GIS analytics specialist for safer decisions.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Consulting Meteorologist as of January 2025, and I help decision makers turn weather into action. I provide assessments, safety responses to hazards, and forecast insight so they can keep, modify, or cancel events—and I supported clients before and during winter storms, including January 10, 2025, and a mid-January 2026 storm.
I’m also a Geospatial Specialist with 7 years of experience, including 3.5 years applying geospatial analysis in the Electric Distribution and Telecommunications industries since December 2020. In utility and telecom GIS work, I’ve traced overhead cables using GIS-based tools (including Katapult and Google Satellite), designed assets to NESC standards, and performed QA/QC to support accurate, reliable data.
In addition to technical GIS execution, I’ve led teams and trained others—most notably as a Lead GIS Analyst on a contracting project for Google Fiber using ESRI Arc Pro. I enjoy connecting analysis to real-world outcomes, from nowcasting and public safety to mapping, data editing, and ongoing learning across tools like ArcGIS products and GIS workflows.
