What I'm looking for
• Twenty-six years’ experience as a legal assistant and secretary to senior partners and associate attorneys, with experience in complex commercial litigation, construction defect litigation, insurance defense including professional liability, personal injury, bodily injury defense, first party claims, third-party liability, automobile negligence, as well as personal injury protection, wrongful death, medical malpractice defense/health care litigation, real estate and contested foreclosure litigation, criminal defense, and intellectual property.
• Fourteen years’ experience as a litigation paralegal in insurance defense, personal injury, Florida real estate/contested foreclosure, construction defect, wrongful death, and health care litigation, intellectual property matters, in addition to corporate paralegal experience in Medicare licensure, facility oversight, contracts, credentialing, tax licensing and application processes.
• Six years’ experience in the medical field as surgical pathology/autopsy administrative and lab support staff, including histology assistance, medical transcription and knowledge of medical terminology; preparation of reporting in immunology, hematopathology, neuropathology, gastroenterology, hematology, and autopsy, working directly with pathologists, residents and medical students.
• Integral member and coordinator of many arbitration and trial teams in complex commercial litigation, intellectual property, patent litigation, insurance defense, and criminal defense trials (in collaboration with Northwestern University's Center on Wrongful Convictions), working directly with senior partners, esteemed clientele and case experts.
• Drafting and compiling a variety of legal pleadings including varieties of motions, written discovery as Plaintiff and Defendant, preparing document production, law firm marketing materials, attorney deposition and trial outlines for direct and re-direct examinations, and trial witness and exhibit lists.
• Advanced user of the Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Teams, Skype, and Zoom, in both Windows and Apple platforms, Florida e-Portal for court filings in State and Federal jurisdictions, use of cloud-based file management systems and software (i.e., Worldox, NetDocuments, DropBox, iManage, and Google Drive), Lexis/Nexis, Adobe Acrobat, Nuance, and Kofax Power PDF for PDF creation, editing, and manipulation, legal time entry software including Expert TIme, TimeSlips, Tabs3, Aderant and PracticePanther, as well as digital transcription technology.
• Hands-on and committed approach to work ethic, taking personal and direct responsibility for a variety and array of projects and duties; excellent organizational awareness, technology-oriented and productive.
