Seeking a remote role that draws on my strengths in research, writing, education, project coordination, and operations. I bring interdisciplinary experience, analytical thinking, and strong communication skills. I'm interested in meaningful, intellectually engaging work with collaborative teams, opportunities for growth, and the flexibility to work from Spain.

Ian Funk
@ianfunk
PhD researcher, educator, and project coordinator with experience in writing, program development, and international operations. Based in Spain.
What I'm looking for
My professional background spans higher education, interdisciplinary research, writing, educational programming, and independent project management. I hold a PhD in English and a background in history and American studies, with extensive experience conducting research, teaching university students, developing course materials, and communicating complex ideas to diverse audiences.
More recently, I've developed and organized independent educational initiatives in Málaga, Spain, including the Málaga Critical Thinking Seminar and Integrative Storytelling: The Six Senses, a collaborative workshop combining storytelling, sensory experience, and wellness. These projects involve program planning, outreach, participant communications, scheduling, and coordination across disciplines.
Earlier in my career, I founded and managed StirSound, an independent electronic music label, coordinating approximately 40–50 releases with international artists and distributors. This experience strengthened my ability to manage overlapping projects, coordinate collaborators, and bring work from concept through completion.
I'm interested in opportunities involving program and project coordination, research, writing, education, content development, and organizational operations. I enjoy work that combines intellectual engagement with practical problem-solving, and I'm particularly drawn to collaborative, internationally oriented organizations.
I'm based in Spain and open to remote employment or contract opportunities with teams around the world.
