Gianfranco Villamonte
@gianfrancovillamonte
Sustainability data and environmental systems specialist with 10+ years in LCA, geospatial, and MRV.
What I'm looking for
I’m an ecologist turned sustainability data specialist, bridging science, data, product, and commercial teams in climate-tech and sustainability contexts. I focus on turning environmental complexity into decision-support logic that teams can trust, scale, and validate.
At Dayrize, I scaled LCA-based product assessment infrastructure from ~83 to ~10,000 datasets/month by leading LCI modelling workflows using OpenLCA API, Python, SQL, BigQuery, Ecoinvent, and Agribalyse. I translated 500,000+ product-level assessments into client-facing insights across carbon, water, biodiversity, land-use, and circularity impacts, while leading external validation against ISO 14040/44/67 and the GHG Protocol Product Standard with SGS.
As Co-Founder & Climate/Data Systems Lead at TehaGreen (built within the Carbon13 programme), I designed decision-support logic for biochar-based carbon removal in Brazilian agriculture. I structure project logic around carbon removal claims, permanence, monitoring needs, registry compatibility, and MRV considerations—aligning technical fit, deployment constraints, and market readiness for stakeholders and investors.
Earlier, in large-scale mining and renewable energy settings, I led biodiversity, ecosystem services, and land-use monitoring across Andean and Amazonian landscapes. I built geospatial workflows using long-term NDVI/EVI datasets, managed technical teams, and developed biodiversity management and offset strategies aligned with IFC Performance Standard 6—connecting ecological constraints to the mitigation hierarchy and operational decisions.

Climate/Data Systems Lead
TehaGreen
Sep 2025 - Apr 2026 (7 months)
Designed decision-support logic for biochar-based carbon removal in Brazilian agriculture, structuring carbon removal claim assumptions around permanence, monitoring, registries, and deployment constraints. Compared biochar with alternative pathways and engaged farmers and market actors to identify feasibility gaps and scaling requirements.

INSIDEO
Sep 2014 - May 2022 (7 years 8 months)
Led biodiversity, ecosystem services, land-use, and environmental monitoring for large-scale mining and gas projects and renewable energy developments, building geospatial workflows to assess land-use change and 10+ year NDVI/EVI vegetation dynamics. Developed biodiversity management, monitoring, and offset strategies aligned with IFC Performance Standard 6, managed 5-person technical teams, and p
Research Assistant - Circularity
PUCP – Wageningen University Consortium
Oct 2021 - Feb 2022 (4 months)
Co-developed a circularity framework linking agroforestry and food waste management in Peru, estimating ~92,000 tCO2e mitigation potential using IPCC factors with GIS and R-based analysis. Reviewed 400+ studies to identify five-decade research trends and gaps across coffee, cacao, and Brazil nut systems and presented findings at the 5th World Congress on Agroforestry.
