George Ryan
@georgeryan1
I’m a data center operations technician transitioning into cybersecurity, focused on penetration testing, Linux, and secure network infrastructure.
What I'm looking for
I’m an IT and data center professional with hands-on networking and infrastructure experience, actively transitioning into cybersecurity. I’m CompTIA Security+ certified and pursuing A+, Network+, CySA+, PenTest+, and Project+ while keeping CCNA and OSCP as long-term goals.
In my current AWS Data Center Operations role, I execute rack-based break/fix repairs and resolve 50+ incidents per month with 85% first-touch resolution, while maintaining 99%+ SLA compliance. Previously, I spearheaded security and visibility improvements by proposing and implementing secure internal DNS and a CA using step-ca, removing reliance on insecure HTTP services and reducing operational risk.
I also strengthen teams through automation and documentation: I deployed Netbox as a DCIM standard across 100+ edge devices, and I built Python and Bash scripts that recovered 160 hours/week of team capacity. With multi-vendor network administration and cabling support for large-scale environments, I bring a practical, security-first mindset—especially for penetration testing, reverse engineering, and cryptography.
