Ganga Nakarmi
@ganganakarmi
Environmental researcher and GIS mapper advancing conservation through data-driven outreach.
What I'm looking for
I’m an environmental and conservation researcher with experience in environmental advocacy, human dimensions and resource management, community organizing, and sustainability initiatives. In my current Brownfields role at WRI/WVU, I develop, maintain, and update a comprehensive brownfields property inventory—coordinating with communities and partners to collect, verify, and manage site assessment data.
I maintain GIS layers and spreadsheets for site prioritization and redevelopment planning, prepare site survey data for loading into geodatabases, and build GIS web experiences using ArcGIS Online and StoryMaps for both internal teams and public outreach. My work is also shaped by long-term field and program experience, including leading wildlife-support grants as Principal Investigator, gender-focused conservation program leadership, teaching/mentoring, and producing peer-reviewed research on landscape preferences and the proposed Appalachian Geopark project.
