Edward Miles

I’m a data driven scientist with experience in bioinformatics, data engineering, and analytical development. I build automation tools, develop data pipelines, and design algorithms for protein and genomic analysis, while combining strong laboratory technique foundations with Python development. I’m at my best where cross functional collaboration and analytical rigor directly improve research outcomes.

In my current role as a Scientist II at Boehringer-Ingelheim Animal Health, I develop data management infrastructure to improve data flow and accessibility across the Analytical Development team. I identify and implement automation opportunities, including custom Python tools and workflow optimizations, and I collaborate with scientists to support assay development through data analysis and experimental pipeline improvements.

Previously, I worked as a Research Assistant at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf, collaborating on bioinformatics tools for NGS data processing and improving accuracy and runtime performance. I also served as a Quality Assurance Technician at Ventura Foods, performing analytical assays and independently building a web tool to calculate ingredient additions, improving correction efficiency. My ongoing work includes Streamlit-based CSV generation for regulatory submission, image analysis applications, and projects like server performance monitoring and protein interaction algorithms.
