At the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), I lead the integration of multi-omics pipelines to map regulatory landscapes, cell-cell communication networks, and spatial architecture in complex disease tissues. My work includes computationally identifying retrotransposable elements in single-cell RNA sequencing data to study their impact in Alzheimer’s Disease.
I developed and maintained VISDB 2.0, a resource of more than 270,000 manually curated viral integration sites used to analyze structural variation and integration hotspots across 11 oncogenic viruses. I also integrated ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq datasets to show that HPV preferentially targets pre-existing active host enhancers and promoters.
My research training includes a Ph.D. in Plant Biology and Biotechnology at NIPGR, where I identified components and regulatory pathways of the biophysical carbon concentrating mechanism in Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. I work with single-cell and spatial omics data using tools including Seurat, ArchR, and Cell Ranger.
