At SABC, I governed media advertising deals from business cases and approvals through implementation, performance monitoring, renewals and expiry. I drafted Commitment Agreements for independent vetting by qualified Legal Advisors.
I applied delegated-authority, policy and SOP requirements to commercial transactions, raising deviations and non-compliance and supporting appropriate approval and escalation routes. I also maintained deal registers and audit-ready documentation, and validated commercial information against SAP ERP and deal-management systems.
During more than three years performing acting-manager responsibilities, I prioritised work, guided the Deals function and supported senior stakeholders. I participated in Broadview system and process change, including UAT, workflow testing and reporting-gap analysis.
After concluding my 19-year career at SABC, I founded Sovereignty by Char (Pty) Ltd, an independent compliance, governance and professional-learning business. I built the Sovereignty Academy institutional framework and develop practical learning resources and toolkits across compliance, governance, risk, fintech and related areas, alongside ongoing legal studies and professional development.
