Brian Chapman
@brianchapman
IRS workflow and appeals-focused supervisor who routes cases, maintains accuracy, and improves team performance.
What I'm looking for
I’m a back-up supervisor and lead within the IRS Exams Department, focused on keeping daily workflow moving and ensuring employees complete required tasks. I oversee activity on the floor, delegate workload effectively, and monitor performance while maintaining accurate system updates.
In my day-to-day work, I perform case research and routing using IDRS, connect statutory notice of deficiency letters to the correct reports, and manage certified mailing on time. I also download and process cases from the DUT, move them into the CDI incoming folder for updating on RGS & IDRS systems, and input Undeliverables into the URT system so case status stays current.
I’ve also worked as a Tax Examiner and Appeal Specialist—reviewing incoming Appeal cases, updating IRS information, making civil penalty determinations, and applying reasonable cause criteria. I educate taxpayers through written and email communication, handle administrative record keeping and data entry, and support coworkers through lead duties and answering assignment questions.
