Brandon Black
@brandonblack
PhD graduate enzymologist with expertise in protein engineering.
What I'm looking for
I am a PhD graduate in Biochemistry and Biophysics with over 8 years of laboratory experience. My journey has been marked by a strong commitment to science communication and collaboration across various scientific fields. My graduate project, which I self-designed, involved computationally predicting ancestral proteins that play a crucial role in multistep small molecule biosynthesis. This work not only deepened my understanding of protein evolution but also honed my skills in protein purification and characterization.
Throughout my academic career, I have engaged in diverse research projects, including nanoparticle synthesis for biologic delivery and studying yeast and mammalian cells. My experience as a National Science Foundation Research Fellow at Johns Hopkins University allowed me to express and validate metamorphic proteins, further enhancing my technical skills in protein kinetics and assay design. I am passionate about applying my expertise in an industrial setting to contribute to the development of innovative protein or cell-based products.
