Network monitoring engineer working in packet capture and TAP infrastructure for exchange and financial-services networks.
What I'm looking for
I’m a Network Observability & Packet Infrastructure Engineer with a decade designing and operating packet-capture and TAP-aggregation platforms for latency-sensitive financial systems. I build the multi-data-center visibility layer that trading floors and 24/7 production depend on—capture infrastructure tuned to millisecond resolution and held to 99.99% availability.
Across my roles, I’ve architected packet-broker/TAP-aggregation fabrics, cut mean time to resolution on visibility incidents by 45% by closing tap and coverage gaps, and led packet-capture during latency and packet-loss incidents to produce the traces teams used to reach root cause. I also engineer redundant capture paths and replacement cadences to protect availability, consolidate end-of-life systems to reduce cost, and create dashboards and workflows that help teams diagnose faster with less noise.
Experience
Work history, roles, and key accomplishments
Architected and built out a three–data-center packet-broker and TAP-aggregation fabric carrying up to 100 Gbps of mirrored traffic, establishing one standardized observability layer across all three data centers. Cut mean time to resolution on network-visibility incidents by 45% and maintained the monitoring platform’s 99.99% availability through redundant capture paths and a TAP replacement caden
Monitoring Engineer - IT Monitoring
Intercontinental Exchange
Jan 2017 - Jan 2019 (2 years)
Operated and tuned ultra-low-latency packet-capture systems (Corvil, Niksun) behind trading-floor analytics at millisecond timestamp resolution. Consolidated and retired end-of-life capture appliances, cutting roughly $100K in license and maintenance cost, and built throughput and retention-monitoring dashboards used across five production environments.
Network Operations Analyst
Intercontinental Exchange
Jan 2010 - Jan 2014 (4 years)
Led the packet-forensics workstream on about three high-severity, trade-impacting incidents per month, isolating root cause for the response team and feeding findings to the incident bridge. Redesigned the alerting strategy to cut chronic false positives by 15%, and produced monthly network utilization and risk reports for capacity planning.
