What I'm looking for

I seek a role that emphasizes computational modeling and machine learning in drug discovery, fostering collaboration and innovation.

I am a computational biophysics graduate with a strong focus on leveraging computational methods to develop effective models. My academic journey has provided me with a unique perspective on the intersection of physics-based models and machine learning, allowing me to incorporate black-box approaches thoughtfully. I am passionate about quantifying and communicating the limitations and practical applications of these models, striving for transparency and interpretability in their use.

During my Master's program at the University of Bologna, I specialized in biophysics with an emphasis on computational modeling. I engaged in projects utilizing deep learning and NLP methods, such as autoencoders and transformer-based models, to classify protein and RNA functions based on their sequences. My thesis focused on molecular dynamics simulations of intrinsically disordered proteins, where I explored unsupervised learning techniques and their applications in understanding biomolecular properties.

With a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics from Stellenbosch University, I have developed a solid foundation in theoretical and experimental physics, complemented by advanced courses in computer science and statistical mathematics. My coding skills enable me to model complex physical systems effectively, and I am eager to apply my knowledge in roles that emphasize computational modeling, structural biology, and machine learning, particularly in drug discovery and biomolecular analysis.
