Alice Khalil
@alicekhalil
Neuroscience research analyst blending microscopy, AI, and clinical observation to improve diagnostics.
What I'm looking for
I’m a neuroscience-focused research analyst who turns lab observations into testable conclusions. In the SLU Neuroscience Lab, I conducted a blind study on stress & sleep deprivation in C. elegans, assessing mitochondrial health and Green Fluorescent Protein expression using confocal and fluorescent microscopy, and analyzing behavioral outcomes during quiescence.
I also bridge experimental work with emerging computational questions. Through research on AI chatbot confidence and a summer project synthesizing nitrogen and gamma carbon dots for fluorescence biosensors, I’ve built a strong foundation in spectroscopy and careful documentation of early findings. Outside the lab, I volunteer at UCHealth shadowing a neurosurgeon and serve as an Emergency Medical Technician, while peer tutoring and leading student representation through nearly $500,000 in student organization funding.

Volunteer & Clinical Observer
UCHealth
Jun 2026 - Present (1 month)
Volunteers while shadowing a neurosurgeon during patient consultations, procedures, and rounds. Observes surgical planning and decision-making and supports hospital operations across departments.
Summer Research Intern
University of Malaya
May 2026 - Present (2 months)
Researches why AI chatbots state false information confidently by comparing with patterns in neurological conditions. Reviews scientific literature and develops AI behavior predictions for future testing.
Research Analyst
SLU Neuroscience Lab
Jan 2026 - Present (6 months)
Conducts research on stress and sleep deprivation effects in C. elegans, including behavioral and biological assessments. Uses confocal/fluorescent microscopy to assess mitochondrial health and Green Fluorescent Protein expression.
Board of Trustees Student Delegate
Thelomathesian Student Government
Jun 2025 - Present (1 year 1 month)
Represents students in meetings with the Board of Trustees and campus administration to improve campus issues. Helps oversee student organization business matters and funding with student leadership.
Summer Research Intern
St. Lawrence University
Jun 2025 - Aug 2025 (2 months)
Synthesizes nitrogen and gamma carbon dots for use in a fluorescent biosensor targeting early heart attack detection. Uses UV-Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy and tests carbon dot responses with proteins.
