Alex Popov
@alexpopov1
Principal applied researcher specializing in deep learning and computer vision for autonomous systems.
What I'm looking for
I am a principal applied researcher focused on deep learning and computer vision, primarily applied to autonomous vehicles, perception, and scene understanding. I bring years of hands-on experience developing detection, segmentation, and world-modeling systems that support real-time robotic and vehicle autonomy.
At NVIDIA I lead research and engineering for pedestrian detection, scene segmentation, obstacle perception, neural planning, and world models; previously I advanced deep vision and ML solutions at Microsoft across Surface, Wearables, and Commerce platform teams. My background combines algorithm design, system engineering, hardware/software integration, and large-scale machine learning deployment.
I am passionate about building reliable perception stacks and generative neural methods that improve safety and decision-making in autonomous systems, and I seek roles where I can drive research-to-product impact and mentor cross-functional teams.
