Adonis Yiannakas

I'm an integrative neurobiologist researching how neural circuits encode learned bodily states and how cytokine, autonomic, and neuroimmune mechanisms shape brain-body communication.

At the European University of Cyprus in Frankfurt, I teach neuroscience, pharmacology, and biochemistry, chair the Research Committee, and help build research infrastructure and doctoral education.

My work across the University of Haifa, Synendos Therapeutics, the University of Bern, and Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz combines in vivo models, behavioral neuroscience, circuit plasticity, neuropharmacology, immune profiling, and molecular approaches.

I've contributed to research on insular-cortex circuits, conditioned immune responses, learning and memory, metabolism, and neuropharmacology, including first- and co-first-author publications in Trends in Neurosciences, Current Biology, Nature Neuroscience, and Nature.
