Role Overview
We are seeking a Microbiology Manager to lead our microbiology team in developing and implementing microbiological testing protocols and quality assurance measures. This role will be critical in ensuring the compliance of our products with industry regulations while fostering an innovative and efficient laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of microbiologists, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement in laboratory practices.
- Develop, validate, and implement microbiological testing methods and protocols to ensure product quality and safety.
- Oversee microbiological investigations, including deviation management, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure microbiological compliance in product development and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines and standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) in all laboratory operations.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all testing activities.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant laboratory experience.
- Strong understanding of microbiological techniques and methodologies, including sterility testing, microbial identification, and environmental monitoring.
- Proven experience in managing laboratory teams, with a focus on mentoring and development.
Preferred:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related field with experience in a regulated laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) and regulatory compliance.
- Experience in a leadership role within a microbiology laboratory, particularly in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in microbiological testing methods and laboratory instrumentation.
- Proficiency in data analysis software and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and their application in microbiological testing.
