Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Quality Control Microbiology to lead our microbiology quality control operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the development, implementation, and management of microbiological quality control processes to ensure the safety and efficacy of our products. Responsibilities
- Lead the microbiology quality control team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence
- Develop and implement microbiological testing strategies to meet regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Oversee the execution of routine microbiological testing, including environmental monitoring, raw materials, and finished product testing
- Ensure compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) throughout the laboratory's operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot microbiological issues and drive root cause investigations
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to laboratory staff, enhancing team capabilities and performance
- Manage laboratory budgets and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency
- Prepare and review regulatory submissions, audits, and inspections to ensure readiness and compliance
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Ph.D. in Microbiology, Biological Sciences, or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control microbiology
- Proven track record in a leadership role within a regulated environment, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- In-depth knowledge of microbiological testing methodologies and regulatory guidelines
- Experience with laboratory management systems and data analysis tools
Preferred:
- Experience managing laboratory teams in a high-throughput setting
- Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques and their application in quality control
- Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance principles
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Expertise in microbiological testing techniques including sterility testing, endotoxin testing, and bioburden analysis
- Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and methodologies relevant to microbiological quality control
- Familiarity with data analytics software for laboratory data management and reporting
