Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Manager to oversee the management of patient health information and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for the implementation of health information systems that enhance patient care, safeguard sensitive data, and promote efficiency in healthcare delivery.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement health information management policies and procedures that comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Manage the integrity, accuracy, and security of patient health records across various platforms.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to optimize health information systems for improved patient outcomes.
- Conduct audits and analyses of health information systems to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee the training and development of staff on health information management systems and compliance protocols.
- Stay current with trends and regulations in health information management and integrate findings into organizational practices.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in health information management, including supervisory roles.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA, HITECH, and other relevant laws.
- Proven ability to manage large datasets and maintain confidentiality.
Preferred:
- Master's degree in Health Information Management or a related field.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems and health information exchange (HIE).
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in health information systems, including EHR and practice management software.
- Familiarity with data analytics tools and methodologies to improve healthcare processes.
- Experience with coding and classification systems, including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
