Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented Junior Medical Records Administrator to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will assist in the management and maintenance of patient medical records while ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Your work will be vital in supporting the efficient operation of our medical facility and enhancing patient care.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the organization and maintenance of patient medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Process incoming and outgoing medical record requests in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support the transition to electronic health records (EHR) systems by assisting with data entry and record scanning.
- Perform regular audits of medical records to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure timely access to patient information.
- Respond to inquiries and provide necessary documentation to authorized personnel.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Medical Records Technology, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology and healthcare regulations, including HIPAA.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with learning new software applications.
Preferred:
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting or medical records department.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) is a plus.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in data entry and management, with a focus on accuracy.
- Experience with medical coding systems and EHR software.
- Knowledge of database management and reporting tools.
