Role Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Feller Operator to join our team, responsible for overseeing and executing advanced felling operations in various environments. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in forestry equipment to ensure the safe and efficient removal of trees while prioritizing ecological sustainability and operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate felling operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Operate advanced felling machinery, including but not limited to chainsaws and mechanical harvesters, with precision and skill
- Assess and analyze site conditions to determine optimal felling strategies and techniques
- Train and mentor junior operators on best practices and effective equipment operation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement operational plans that align with company goals
- Conduct regular equipment inspections and maintenance to ensure peak operational performance
- Monitor and report on felling progress and operational metrics to leadership
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in felling operations or forestry management
- Demonstrated expertise in operating felling equipment and machinery
- Strong knowledge of forestry practices, safety regulations, and environmental impacts
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in dynamic environments
Preferred:
- Certification in forestry or related field
- Experience with GPS and mapping technology in forestry operations
- Proven track record of leading teams and managing projects
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in operating chainsaws, harvesters, and other felling equipment
- Familiarity with best practices for tree identification and species management
- Understanding of forest management principles and sustainability practices
