Role Overview
We are seeking a Forestry Equipment Supervisor to lead our team in managing and maintaining a fleet of specialized forestry equipment. This role is critical in ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance within our forestry division, directly impacting our mission to promote sustainable forest management practices.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of forestry equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring that all machinery is functioning optimally and safely.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all forestry equipment.
- Supervise a team of technicians and operators, providing training and guidance to enhance their skills and productivity.
- Collaborate with project managers to assess equipment needs and allocate resources effectively for various forestry projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards related to equipment operation and maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance, and repairs, generating reports as necessary for management review.
- Act as a liaison between vendors and our organization for equipment procurement and service contracts.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in forestry equipment management or a related field.
- Proven experience supervising teams and managing equipment maintenance operations.
- Strong understanding of forestry machinery, including but not limited to harvesters, skidders, and chippers.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to equipment performance.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Preferred:
- Associate degree in forestry, mechanics, or a related field.
- Experience with GPS and mapping technology as it relates to forestry operations.
- Familiarity with sustainable forestry practices and regulations.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Deep knowledge of forestry equipment maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in using equipment diagnostic tools and software.
- Understanding of data management systems for tracking equipment performance and maintenance.
