Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Forestry Crew Supervisor to lead our dedicated team in the field. In this role, you will oversee daily operations related to forest management, ensuring that all activities align with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily field operations related to forestry activities, including planting, thinning, and harvesting
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental best practices
- Conduct regular assessments of forest health and implement appropriate management strategies
- Provide training and mentorship to crew members, promoting skill development and safety awareness
- Collaborate with environmental scientists and land managers to develop sustainable forestry plans
- Maintain accurate records of crew activities, inventory, and equipment usage
- Assist in budgeting and resource allocation for forestry projects
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in forestry management or a related field
- Strong knowledge of forestry practices, regulations, and environmental sustainability
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams in a field environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate forestry equipment and tools safely
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Forestry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for forest mapping and analysis
- Certification in First Aid/CPR and chainsaw safety
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in forest management software and data analysis tools
