Role Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled and dedicated Farrowing Manager to oversee our farrowing operations at [$COMPANY_NAME]. Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the farrowing unit, ensuring the welfare of sows and piglets
- Develop and implement strategies to improve farrowing rates and reduce mortality
- Oversee the care and management of pregnant sows, including monitoring health and nutrition
- Lead and mentor a team of farm staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
- Conduct regular performance assessments and implement training programs to enhance team skills
- Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure optimal health management protocols are followed
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, health data, and operational costs
- Implement and uphold biosecurity measures to minimize disease risk
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in swine production, with a focus on farrowing management
- Strong understanding of animal husbandry practices and biosecurity protocols
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and motivate a diverse team
Preferred:
- Experience with modern production technologies and data management systems
- Knowledge of herd health management principles and veterinary practices
