Role Overview
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Assistant Audio-Visual Collections Coordinator to support the management and preservation of our extensive audio-visual collections. This hybrid role will involve working closely with the collections team to ensure that all materials are cataloged, maintained, and accessible for research and exhibition purposes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the cataloging, digitization, and preservation of audio-visual materials, ensuring accurate metadata entry and adherence to preservation standards.
- Collaborate with the collections team to develop and implement best practices for collection maintenance and accessibility.
- Support the coordination of collection exhibitions and public programming, including assisting with logistics and materials preparation.
- Conduct regular inventory assessments to ensure the integrity and condition of the collections.
- Engage with stakeholders and researchers to facilitate access to audio-visual collections, providing guidance and support as needed.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Museum Studies, Digital Media, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of experience working in an archive, library, or museum setting with audio-visual materials.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred:
- Experience with digital asset management systems and cataloging software.
- Familiarity with audio-visual preservation techniques and standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficient in the use of digital asset management systems and archival software.
- Understanding of audio-visual formats and preservation methods.
- Basic knowledge of metadata standards such as Dublin Core or EAD.
