Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Film Library Manager to oversee and optimize our extensive film collection. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for the management, preservation, and accessibility of our film library, ensuring that our team and stakeholders can easily access the content they need while maintaining the highest standards of organization and preservation.
Responsibilities
- Manage the curation, cataloging, and preservation of all films in the library, ensuring that metadata is accurate and up-to-date.
- Implement efficient workflows for the acquisition, storage, and retrieval of films, utilizing industry-standard library management systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their film access needs and provide timely support for film requests and screenings.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the handling, preservation, and digitization of film materials.
- Conduct regular audits of the film collection to assess condition, identify restoration needs, and recommend preservation strategies.
- Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to film archiving and management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Film Studies, Library Science, Archival Studies, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience managing film or media libraries, with a strong understanding of film preservation and archiving principles.
- Proficiency in library management software and digital asset management systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong customer service orientation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with film digitization processes and technologies.
- Familiarity with metadata standards such as Dublin Core or MARC.
- Knowledge of copyright laws and licensing issues related to film use and distribution.
- Strong passion for film history and a commitment to preserving film heritage.
