Role Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Addictions Counselor Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing essential administrative and clinical support to licensed counselors. Responsibilities
- Assist licensed addictions counselors in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for clients.
- Conduct intake assessments and gather relevant client information to support the counseling process.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions and support individual counseling efforts by providing a supportive presence.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Coordinate with external resources and community services to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Monitor and document client progress, providing feedback to counselors on treatment outcomes.
- Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a behavioral health or substance abuse treatment setting.
- Strong understanding of addiction recovery principles and the therapeutic process.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Certification or training in addiction counseling (e.g., CADC, ICADC).
- Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with EHR systems for managing client information and documentation.
- Knowledge of telehealth platforms and digital communication tools.
