Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our remote team. In this role, you will work closely with clients to assess their needs, develop personalized treatment plans, and provide ongoing support throughout their recovery journey. Your expertise will be critical in fostering a safe and supportive environment that encourages clients to achieve their goals and make meaningful changes in their lives.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine their substance use history and treatment needs
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's unique circumstances
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions, using evidence-based practices to promote recovery
- Monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as necessary
- Provide crisis intervention and support during high-stress situations
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and holistic care
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in substance abuse treatment
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field
- Current licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor or equivalent certification
- 3+ years of experience in substance abuse counseling or a related field
- Strong understanding of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients
Preferred:
- Experience with telehealth counseling and remote support services
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care approaches
- Knowledge of community resources and support networks for individuals in recovery
Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms
- Ability to utilize assessment tools and treatment planning software
- Experience with data collection and outcome measurement in behavioral health settings
Soft Skills and Cultural Fit
- Empathetic and non-judgmental attitude towards clients
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
