Job Purpose

The Management Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting Zumo’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of our month end processes, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, review and analysis of the balance sheet and the profit or loss statements, along with appropriate reconciliations. This position is suited for individuals looking to grow their career in finance, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic start-up environment.

Requirements

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Take ownership of the monthly management accounting cycle for all group entities.
• Maintain and review management accounting packs, including profit & loss and balance sheet, identifying variances and areas of risk.
• Maintain accruals, prepayments, and other relevant balance sheet reconciliations, including query investigation and resolution.
• Oversee bank reconciliation and accounts payable controls, supporting process improvements and resolving outstanding issues.
• Manage intercompany accruals and transactions.
• Support the planning and execution of annual budget and reforecast processes.
• Support FinOps with data room maintenance.
• Conduct cash flow forecasting with input from the Financial Controller.
• Prepare payroll with the support of the company’s accountants.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns with the support of the company’s accountants.
• Conduct analysis and analytical review of balance sheet and profit & loss accounts.
• Assist in the production of the annual statutory accounts.
• Maintain the fixed asset register.
• Perform other ad-hoc duties as required.

Experience:

• 1-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role, preferably within a start-up or fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Proficient in financial software and MS Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
