What's the role?

The Technical Sales and Education Specialist is responsible for the coordination, development and execution of sales training in support of the North America Sales team business strategy. Typical responsibilities may include ensuring a consistent alignment in the development and delivery of training programs, such as new hire orientation, sales/optical training, lab training and/or customer support training.

  • Facilitate and deliver high-impact training programs utilizing a variety of methodologies, techniques, concepts, learning tools, and practices to ensure maximum effectiveness for the audience.

  • Work with the Regional Manager and Business Development Representatives to assess customer training needs and establish a training plan to onboard, support and grow accounts.

  • Provide training support for New Hire Onboarding, National Sales Meeting, Association Conferences, Tradeshows and Customer Training Events.

  • Support new hire onboarding and continuing rep development efforts by conducting co-travel assessments, providing feedback and working with Sales leadership to enable rep success.

  • Provide ABO training in partnership with other colleagues for ZEISS employees and customers as needed.

  • Provide inputs to training content and materials to support company objectives and initiatives.

  • Develop ROIs and metrics for assessing efficacy of training methods by effectively measuring, benchmarking and monitoring learning impact to the business.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Do you qualify?

  • Bachelors degree in related field preferred

  • ABO certification required

  • A minimum of 3 years of optical sales experience.

  • A minimum of 3 years of professional level training and development experience in group presentations, one-on-one coaching and program management/administration.

  • Prior experience working as a sales representative.

  • Familiarity with the Challenger Sales Methodology.

  • Familiarity with Salesforce.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully develop and deliver sales training programs utilizing skills in instructional design, program design & development, and training technologies.

  • Sales and/or marketing and merchandizing experience to the Eye Care Professional preferred

  • Ability to take initiative and ownership for project creation and effectively execute while utilizing effectiveness assessments along with improvement as appropriate

  • Trainer certifications with recognized vendors to align with company and department objectives and initiatives

  • Understanding of Rx lab operations is desired

  • Excellent facilitation management and interpersonal relationship skills

  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, problem resolution, communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills required. Strong analytical and organization diagnosis skills

  • Exceptional knowledge of product, deep understanding of market

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently, in a team environment and work effectively at all levels of the company.

  • Act with integrity and demonstrates ethical behavior in all matters with all stakeholders.

  • Maintain a high level of energy, enthusiasm, engagement and commitment to action.

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills including presentation skills, strong project management skills required

  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
