Whip Around was born in 2016, originally to help freight companies in New Zealand tackle their paper-based compliance burden. It was whilst working for some of the globe’s largest freight companies, that we saw first-hand how much time paper was costing fleet managers every day. Within a year, the US market was calling loudly as Whip Around met a clear pain point for businesses with fleets. Whip Around now has offices in Auckland, New Zealand, Charlotte, North Carolina, San Diego, California servicing our customers from coast to coast in the US and around the world.

Why this role is important:

As the People Experience Partner you play an important role across the entire People Experience (PX) lifecycle. Whip Around is a place where we want people to do their best work, feel they can be their best selves all while being a high performing team.

Our small but mighty People team work closely to provide support across both the US & NZ teams, this role will have a strong US focus and will require this person to roll up their sleeves and cover duties that fall outside of the usual PX responsibilities. This is the type of role that would suit someone that has strong generalist experience with a solid working knowledge of US employment law, US- specific experience (healthcare, benefits) as well as strong experience leading end-to-end recruitment.

What success will look like:

People Experience & Talent Acquisition:

  • Partner with leaders and the NZ People Team on initiatives across the entire People lifecycle, including talent acquisition, onboarding, retention and offboarding
  • Working with the People team and leaders on development needs, identifying areas of development so people can perform at their best
  • Act as the first point of contact for US employee queries relating to payroll, benefits, HRIS admin
  • Maintain all US employment agreements, addendums and related paperwork
  • Provide support and guidance to leaders and employees on Employment Relations matters
  • Ownership of our LMS tool, working with department leaders to ensure relevant training has been provided to the necessary teams
  • Support with administration of Health & Safety and ISO27001 Security practices
  • Administration of people processes
  • Partnering with Whip Around US hiring managers to understand resourcing requirements
  • Lead all US search efforts - proactively using networks and tools to find Whip Arounders, enhancing the candidate experience taking ownership of the search process
  • Continue to develop and strengthen our employer brand
  • Support hiring teams by up-skilling them on interview best practices and running streamlined interview processes that support building diverse teams
  • Own recruitment tech and tools, finding innovative solutions and practices to make the process more effective

Requirements

About You:

  • You have a Human Resources/Business Degree
  • You have strong, broad knowledge of US employment laws and compliance
  • You have a very high degree of attention to detail and accuracy
  • You are an excellent communicator - video calls, in person, Slack, emails and everything in between - you need to be a master of communication
  • You know how to partner with people leaders, working collaboratively and building strong working relationships
  • A champion of our brand and culture and bringing out the best in people
  • You have a strong ownership mentality with anything that you are responsible for, you have a strong sense of pride and responsibility for anything you deliver
  • You have a knack for being able to juggle multiple priorities, moving fast, without letting things slip and are comfortable escalating where necessary
  • You find out-of-the-box solutions to problems - you have a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and you are comfortable working in ambiguity
  • You are a self-starter, comfortable working independently and within a team environment
  • You have proven experience working with remote teams developing initiatives to enhance engagement and bringing out the best in teams

Experience:

  • Experience working in a fast-paced tech environment - preferably within the SaaS space
  • Proficient in using HRIS and tech platforms (use of systems such as Trinet, Workable and Paychex desirable! )
  • Experience designing employee benefits packages, keeping up to date with relevant trends and an understanding of comparing and analyzing healthcare benefits
  • Experience with compensation benchmarking in line with industry trends
  • Experienced in developing, updating and communicating relevant People policies and training programs
  • Experienced in owning end-to-end recruitment of all levels, in a tech environment
  • Proven experience handling sensitive, confidential employment matters with professionalism
  • Proven track record of leading engagement, development and performance management initiatives
