The Business Operations (“BizOps”) team's mandate is to tackle Wealthsimple's most important and ambiguous challenges through rigorous problem-solving and execution. Most often, we work where there is insufficient process, technology, and people. Our job is to simplify complexity, define structure, and help implement the most efficient use of scarce company resources (people, capital, time, and focus).
As an Associate, you will be responsible for partnering with BizOps Managers, and teams and leaders across the organization to deliver projects that drive meaningful and measurable value.
What you’ll do as an Associate, Business Operations
- Work closely with BizOps leaders to support efforts across some of Wealthsimple’s highest priority efforts (including growth, customer experience, and product)
- Conduct primary and secondary research to inform the team’s perspective
- Build a deep understanding of Wealthsimple’s data, and design and execute analysis to drive novel insights and pragmatic recommendations
- Own the problem solving of discrete pieces of BizOps projects and independently engage with BizOps leadership and senior stakeholders to drive the answer forward
- Help BizOps and our stakeholders move at pace by approaching the work with a no-ego attitude and rolling up your sleeves to tackle whatever needs to be done
- Establish yourself as an analytical expert and go-to resource for stakeholders across the company
- Provide feedback, opinions, and suggestions up, down, and across Wealthsimple teams
- Help build and shape the BizOps function at Wealthsimple
Skills we’re looking for
- Relevant work experience: 2-4 years of demonstrated success in investment banking, management consulting, startups, or other strategy / operations roles in related fields
- Ability to solve problems: Experience driving insights and solving hard problems with well-supported and pragmatic solutions
- A love for data analytics: Strong data management and analytical skills with superior attention to detail and a demonstrated track record of leveraging data to drive business impact. Experience with SQL is an asset.
- A collaborative approach: Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in highly collaborative environments
- Action orientation: A clear bias for action and ability to act without being told what to do, a tenacious ability to tackle challenges and get things done
- Strong written and verbal communication: Able to speak plainly and truthfully, communicating complex ideas in a simple easy-to-understand way for any audience (e.g. engineering, 3rd party vendors, operational teams, executive team)
- Organization and planning: Habit of planning and organizing proactively, and providing regular updates on progress and timelines
- Honesty and integrity: Doesn't cut corners. Does what is right, not what is politically expedient
