The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director, Marketing to lead the Marketing organization in the development and execution of our corporate and Lifeline Sector strategies and other strategic and operational initiatives. You will report to the SVP, Strategic Growth & Marketing and be responsible for our full marketing organization. Your efforts will extend our ability to enhance the Ulteig brand, generate new business and partnerships, commercialize products, and strengthen our position as a globally recognized engineering and infrastructure solutions leader focused on the Lifeline Sectors of the company.

The Director, Marketing is a key position in the company working collaboratively with executives and senior leadership to drive growth by creating and executing a strategy inclusive of insights, product, brand, and markets. You will define the overall B2B marketing strategy, build streamlined processes leveraging technology to drive efficiencies, mentor and develop an outstanding team, create client-centric and fully integrated marketing, assess market opportunities, bring to market new and differentiated products, service offerings and partnerships, evolve client and market insights and, most fundamentally, help Ulteig grow the business.

Driving both long-term brand equity and profitable growth, this position is responsible for representing the voice-of-client in all marketing and commercialization efforts and must equally blend a deep understanding of product management, go-to-market strategy and execution, brand strategy, digital marketing, sales enablement, content marketing, and marketing effectiveness, as well as the ability to lead, develop and mentor the team in day-to-day operations of marketing programs.

What You'll Do

Strategic Direction

  • Prepare a long-term a strategic roadmap designed to maximize market impact, leverage analytics to inform direction, drive growth and ensure brand awareness internationally, tied to our corporate strategic plan.
  • Lead the development of the annual Marketing goals and operational plans aligned with and supporting long-term Strategic Priorities and incorporating current policy, market, and client insights.
  • Maximize the impact of marketing initiatives by planning cross-functionally and collaborating with other leaders and stakeholders to align priorities and objectives.
  • Lead organizational change and the impacts to the Marketing Department.
  • Leverage team and peers to become a market expert to stay ahead of trends inside and outside of Ulteig’s competitive circle.
  • Conduct general market research to keep abreast of trends and competitors’ marketing movements to inform market position and differentiation.
  • Develop client-driven market strategies and action plans based on a deep understanding of our clients, who they are, how we can reach them and what they value.
  • Responsible for developing and executing a product roadmap for our core and future markets, partnering with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Maintain an understanding of the industry and the changes affecting our clients and the company and make appropriate recommendations regarding the marketing and product strategy around them.

Brand Marketing

  • Responsible for leading brand strategy in partnership with Senior Leaders that defines brand positioning and objectives to achieve sales and profit targets.
  • Partner with Senior Leaders to ensure Ulteig’s brand is well-positioned as we expand in new markets and services, and through strategic partnerships.
  • Lead strategic initiatives through innovative and creative content strategy, including the master marketing and editorial calendar.

Product Management and Commercialization

  • Responsible for product strategy, in partnership with Senior Leaders, that maximizes the impact of new products and services through commercialization.
  • Lead the development of the product and technology roadmap for our core and future markets, in partnership with Senior Leaders.

Business Development

  • Support Business Development efforts with effective and tailored sales enablement strategies and programs to help better penetrate the market. Oversee the development of high-quality sector-specific marketing and encourage prospects and clients to engage on a deeper level with the brand. Programs include tradeshows and events, content marketing and sales collateral and presentations.
  • Support and empower the team to be strong project leaders for Lifeline Sector Marketing. Direct and coach on market-specific program creation and project plans, creative briefs and creative development. Support alignment and collaboration with Business Development and Technical Teams as needed.
  • Evolve our CRM process to enhance client relationships, loyalty, product, and brand value.

Marketing Effectiveness

  • Push for positive results by continually evaluating the impact and effectiveness of marketing initiatives using both qualitative and quantitative inputs to enable continuous learning, campaign/program optimization and enhanced client experience.
  • Drive marketing effectiveness by establishing a system-wide marketing reporting function that tracks, measures and analyzes the productiveness and ROI of marketing initiatives.
  • Establish performance specifications, cost and price parameters, market applications and sales forecasts.
  • Research, analyze and monitor leading indicators of demand in our core markets.
  • Manage and optimizing the marketing budget to maximize ROI.

Management and Leadership

  • Drive results by creating strategic, focused and thorough plans that inspire great work from team members and partners. Turn strategies into action by leading and coaching the team to clearly articulate the issue, the rationale, the strategy and the action steps required to drive results for work including company website, print communications, digital advertising, social content and branded materials.
  • Elevate the company’s marketing expertise by developing the talent on the marketing team to ensure they have cutting edge skills to drive innovative marketing strategies and unique ideas.
  • Ignite a commitment to the brand and client experience.
  • Create an environment of open communication, trust, interdependence, and inclusion.
  • Build a collaborative network of internal and external experts to foster effective teamwork and diversity of thinking and skills.
  • Mentor and coach the team to be innovative and effective leaders of the creative process, driving programs across channels from strategy development to analyzing results.
  • Develop marketing processes, best methods and tools that improve the team’s ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams through marketing projects and drive efficient project management.
  • Continually improve staff performance through setting clear development goals and prioritized objectives and providing timely and meaningful coaching, feedback and appraisals.
  • On-going planning, management, and analysis of program budgets.
  • In addition to providing strategic marketing oversight to Marketing and Product Management, the Director may be called upon to lead, manage or play an active role in different cross-functional projects and initiatives.

What We Expect from You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, MBA preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressively responsible, successful leadership directing marketing strategies and product strategies, including product management, brand management, content marketing and program development.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills that can be effective throughout all levels of the organization, including executive and C-Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills with an attention to detail as well as self-motivation with a willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task to deliver the desired outcomes in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and collaboratively within an engineering driven company culture.
  • Ability to influence and drive stakeholder buy-in.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work productively with a wide variety of perspectives, backgrounds and experiences.
  • In-depth understanding of marketing technology, data science, and analytics..
  • Experience in Business-to-Business marketing and service marketing strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of SEO and Google analytics and leveraging data to drive marketing effectiveness.
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel and Power Point), CRM, and additional software knowledge.
  • Requires the ability to travel at least 25% of the time.
  • Must have the ability to work permanently in the US.

Additional Opportunity Details:

Compensation Range is Generally+/- 15% of Position Mid-Point of $205,000*
