About the Opportunity:

Toppan Merrill is hiring a Senior Technical Architect to join our global engineering and product team. You will design and implement cloud-based solutions that align with our business objectives and technology roadmap. You will collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand their requirements, develop architectural designs, and provide oversight to ensure technical development teams deliver solutions that meet our business needs.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Solution Design: Architect and own the technical vision for a new Azure-based cloud-native application, integrating greenfield services, open-source tools, legacy systems, and internal platforms.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with product owners, business SMEs, and engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.

Ambiguity & Prioritization: Navigate evolving requirements to identify key priorities, make trade-offs, and guide teams toward impactful outcomes.

Legacy Modernization: Rapidly assess existing systems and codebases to inform integration strategies and modernization efforts that minimize disruption while enabling innovation.

Build vs. Buy Strategy: Evaluate and recommend when to build in-house versus leverage third-party or vendor solutions, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility.

Mentorship & Enablement: Support and guide emerging engineering teams, fostering architectural best practices, technical excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Governance & Standards: Establish and uphold architectural standards, ensuring consistency, security, and performance across the platform.

About You:

  • 10+ years of experience in software development, with a strong foundation in system design and architecture.
  • 3+ years in a technical architecture role, ideally within SaaS or web-based platforms.
  • Proven experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications; Azure experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong background in Java and familiarity with multiple programming languages and frameworks.
  • Experience with microservices, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes, AKS a plus).
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms or digital asset management systems is a significant advantage.
  • Proven ability to operate across global organizations, proactively identifying bottlenecks ranging across process, teams and technology.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across business and technical domains.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with evolving priorities.

Benefits:

We understand that your skills deserve recognition. That's why we offer a competitive base pay scale ranging from $160,000 to $190,000 annually, based on experience and expertise. Toppan Merrill also offers an annual bonus incentive in addition to base pay. We believe in compensating our dedicated team members fairly for their hard work and commitment. Please note that actual salaries may vary within, above, or below this range based on factors such as education, training, experience, professional achievement, business needs, and location.
