About the Role

The Sales Agent, Personal Lines is responsible for generating new business and growing a personal lines book of business through consultative sales and client relationship development. This role focuses on converting qualified leads into clients, identifying coverage needs, and delivering tailored insurance solutions. The Sales Agent serves as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process, from initial engagement through policy binding, while contributing to overall agency growth through new business production, cross-selling, and referrals.

This role is responsible for achieving individual sales targets and contributing to overall agency growth through consistent production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and convert new personal lines sales opportunities through inbound and outbound efforts.
  • Engage with prospective clients to assess insurance needs and recommend appropriate coverage solutions.
  • Conduct consultative sales conversations and present quotes, proposals, and coverage recommendations.
  • Follow up on leads, referrals, and opportunities to drive conversion and close business.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with prospects, clients, and referral partners (e.g., realtors, loan officers, builders).
  • Perform policy reviews and identify opportunities to increase coverage and round accounts.
  • Cross-sell additional lines of business to expand client relationships.
  • Prepare and process quotes, applications, endorsements, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all sales activity within CRM and agency systems.
  • Monitor and manage individual pipeline to ensure consistent sales activity and goal attainment.
  • Collaborate with SDRs, service teams, and leadership to support client needs and business objectives.
  • Stay current on insurance products, carrier guidelines, and market conditions.
  • Maintain consistent outbound activity to build and sustain a pipeline of new business opportunities.

Skills and Attributes

  • Consultative Selling – Ability to assess client needs and recommend tailored insurance solutions.
  • Closing Ability – Demonstrates strong ability to convert opportunities into new business.
  • Relationship Building – Builds trust and long-term relationships with clients and referral partners.
  • Communication Skills – Clear, confident, and professional communicator.
  • Product Knowledge – Strong understanding of personal lines insurance products (Auto, Home, Umbrella, etc.).
  • Organization and Time Management – Effectively manages pipeline, follow-up, and sales activities.
  • Self-Motivation – Driven to achieve individual sales goals and contribute to team success.
  • Technical Proficiency – Comfortable using CRM systems, rating tools, and agency management platforms.

Education

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in personal lines insurance sales or a related sales role.
  • Experience working in an independent agency environment preferred; experience in a captive agency environment will also be considered.
  • Proven ability to generate and convert leads into new business.
  • Experience working in a quota-driven or performance-based sales environment.
  • Experience using CRM systems and sales tools preferred.

Certificates, License, and or Specialized Requirements

  • An active and valid Property and Casualty (P&C) License is required; Texas license preferred.
  • Life and Health License is a plus.
  • Must maintain all required licenses in good standing, including completion of continuing education requirements.

This position may operate in an in-office, hybrid, or fully remote environment depending on the role, department, and business needs. Standard business hours at Artemis Insurance are typically Monday through Friday; however, schedules may vary by department, office location, or operational requirements. Specific work arrangements, schedules, and location expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
