Scala Tech Lead

As a Scala Tech Lead on our team, you will play a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life. You will be involved in every stage of the development process, from initial design to deployment, focusing on creating a scalable, high-performance backend system that can support the diverse needs of multiple brands.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience building backend systems
• At least 5 year of experience working with Scala
• At least 2 years of experience as technical leadership
• Experience building RESTful APIs / WebSockets
• Proficient in Scala and its ecosystem (e.g., Akka, Play Framework, SBT).
• Experience working with distributed messaging systems such as Kafka, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, etc.
• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
• Experience with database technologies (SQL and NoSQL(Cassandra / DSE Search)).
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and DevOps tools (CI/CD pipelines).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (B2+)
• Be able to work in multicultural work environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Self-organized and able to quickly learn new technologies and paradigms.

Desirable:

• Experience with JIRA, Confluence.
• Implement of reporting/analytics using Big Data processing tools (Apache Spark in DSE Analytics).
• Experience in gambling or online gaming.
• Experience with TDD development processes.

Desirable AI Requirements:

• Strong interest in strategically adopting AI-powered tools (e.g., ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar) to optimize engineering workflows at team level.
• Proven ability to leverage AI to accelerate delivery, improve architectural decisions, enhance code quality, and reduce technical debt.
• Experience integrating AI into the development lifecycle — including code generation, refactoring, debugging, automated test creation, documentation, and code reviews.
• Ability to define and promote AI best practices within the team, ensuring responsible, secure, and efficient usage.
• Proactive mindset toward experimenting with emerging AI tools and driving continuous improvement in engineering productivity.
• Understanding of AI limitations, risks, and governance considerations when used in production environments.

Responsibilities:

• Providing supervision and guidance to team members.
• Reviewing code of teammates, make sure that code quality meet required on project level of quality.
• Writing technical tickets and creating tech design for features.
• New features development within existing product.
• Communicating with team members and Product team.
• Resolving technical problems as they rise.
• Bug fixing of newly developed features (no refactoring of the old code).
• Writing Unit tests and integration tests.
• Scrum ceremonies participation.
• Mentoring middle and junior colleagues might be required
