Job Description

PR & Communications Associate works with the Research & Communications team to support the new climate education Hub in New York. This Hub will expand on our free platform with teacher-designed lesson plans, curated resources, and professional development opportunities to enable all K-12 educators to easily integrate climate change into what they already teach.

Your main responsibility will be to efficiently manage and help increase the general presence and awareness of StC’s work throughout various media outlets.

  • Passion and commitment to our mission and values

  • Assist in writing thought leadership pieces

  • Write press releases

  • Write other marketing copy as needed, such as certain text on communications packages related to specific projects (i.e. State Hub communications package text)

  • Manages public relations efforts, i.e., collects ideas for publications and gathers contacts for media relations.

  • Reaches out to these contacts to try to get stories published (and follows up as necessary), brings in other internal team members when needed to reply/offer quotes/do interviews, etc.

Qualifications

  • Passion and commitment to our mission and values

  • High quality professional writing skills

  • Proactive and organized (is able to manage multiple communications)

  • Self-motivated and strong time management
