Position Summary

The Manager, Health, Safety & Environmental manages the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) programs, meeting all governmental requirements and Company philosophies. Responsible for the technical and administrative management of site safety and guides implementation of behavioral processes intended to lead the site(s) to World Class safety.

What you will do

Training:

  • Provides safety awareness and compliance training to all employees on various EHS topics.
  • Provides training to the IP Management Team members on methods to develop and sustain effective safety management for manufacturing and office work environments.

Reports:

  • Provides reports to the IP Management Team on the current state of HSE management systems, problems noted, or modifications required.
  • Ensures timely and accurate filing of local, federal, and state documents and reports (i.e. OSHA, County Health Department, et cetera) relating to Health and Safety issues.
  • Prepares and publishes safety related information (reports, updates, alerts, etc.) to increase and maintain safety awareness.
  • Prepares statistical analysis of injury experience for government/company reporting and problem identification purposes.
  • Coordinates root-cause incident investigations for all Priority 1 and 2 events, and ensures follow-up on all near-miss reports, including recommended remedial action.

Policies/Procedures:

  • Creates, reviews, modifies, and approves written HSE procedures in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conducts timely reviews of all changes in corporate, local, state, and federal regulations affecting plant/site operations, apprise senior management of changes, and make recommendations for courses of action to meet changes.

Audits:

  • Routinely HSE audits assigned sites, for safe working conditions and procedures; and initiates corrective action where appropriate.
  • Serves as the primary contact for OSHA and EPA inspections. Takes charge of inspection activities, verifies credentials, makes Corporate notifications, and accompanies agency inspectors on their tours of the plant.

Budgets:

  • Coordinates standing purchase orders for Health, Safety & Environmental expenditures including emergency equipment, safety shoes, safety glasses, personal protective equipment required for manufacturing operations, training expenses, and first aid supplies.
  • Reviews all Capital Appropriation Requests prior to Operation leaders submission for approval to

Disaster Preparedness/Monitoring:

  • Designs and administers disaster recovery plans and procedures
  • Supports Operations in creating Business Continuity plans and a Pandemic Contingency plan.
  • Analyzes facility activities and infrastructure to assess current industrial hygiene practices.
  • Schedules professional industrial hygiene surveys to address needs as indicated by IH analysis.
  • Maintains documentation to demonstrate lack of employee-exposure or makes recommendations for facility modifications to minimize exposure to employees.
  • Serves as the local contact for environmental issues.
  • Addresses in a timely fashion all requests to evaluate air quality, illumination standards, respiratory protection, and/or hearing conservation issues in the workplace. Reviews and approve occupational investigations to ensure that all work places are free of health hazards.

Duties cont'd

VPP and Behavior-based safety:

  • Responsible for developing Device Repair sites for eventual participation in OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program as a STAR site. This includes all document requirements, as well as the educational and promotional activities required to sustain the systematic program of continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for implementation and maintaining the behavior-based observation process, reporting and training. Coordinates and tracks performance of safety observation audits by the IP Management Team, including the tracking of audit findings to completion.

Case Management:

  • Participates in Post Injury Workers Compensation Case Management and designs programs to enable immediate return to work for injured employees whenever possible.
  • Safety Committee:
  • Coordinates the Central Safety Committee and serves as vice-chair. Organizes and schedules Committee activities.
  • Supports site level safety committees and serves as an advisor.

What you will need to be successful

  • 5+ years' experience in implementing HSE programs across multiple sites or experience in Sterile Processing leadership with a Bachelor's degree (13 years with a high school diploma)
  • Process safety management experience or SPD leadership (lead tech, supervisor, manager, educator) experience.
  • Ability to build relationship and lead teams indirectly.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, facilitation, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Strong project/problem resolution skills.
  • Good verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Excellent Customer service skills (both internal and external).
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint, databases, and function specific software.

Remote based role. On average 50% travel. However, home base location will determine more accurately.

Pay range for this opportunity is [[78,500.00]] - [[104,750.00]].This position is eligible for [BONUS PARTICIPATION].

Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than range listed. Pay rates are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language fluency, etc.

Employees are covered by an employee assistance program (also available to household members) and long-term disability. Full-Time Employees are also eligible for short-term disability. Full-time Employees will also receive Paid Time Off (PTO) based on years of service and paid Holidays. Part-time employees working 20 or more hours receive a pro-ration of the full-time PTO allocation and paid Holidays based on their standard hourly work week. Full-Time employees are eligible for four weeks of paid parental leave. Part-time employees also receive paid parental leave, pro-rated based on their standard hourly work week.
