We’re looking for a Tech Lead who acts as the primary technical counterpart to our Head of Product & Engineering. This is a high-impact, non-managerial, 70%+ hands-on coding role designed for a seasoned engineer who loves the craft of building as much as the “why” of product development. You’ll report directly to the CTO and bridge the gap between product discovery and technical execution.

What you’ll do as our Tech Lead (m/f/d)

  • Hands-on Execution: Lead by example by writing high-quality, production-ready code across the entire stack (React/Node.js). You’ll tackle the most complex technical challenges and set the quality bar for the team.
  • AI-Native Development: Pioneer AI-augmented development workflows for the entire team. We don’t just want someone who “uses Copilot” — we want someone who can architect AI features (LLMs, agents, automation) into our platform AND use AI tools to fundamentally change how our team ships code. You should have opinions on when to prompt-engineer vs. fine-tune, how to evaluate LLM output quality, and how to build reliable AI pipelines in production.
  • Product Partnership: Collaborate daily with the Head of Product & Engineering to translate the product vision into a robust technical roadmap. You’ll be the “voice of engineering” in product discovery.
  • Technical Evolution: Define and evolve our full-stack architecture. We’re pragmatic about our infrastructure — the right tool for the right problem, not dogmatic about any specific cloud pattern.
  • Technical Feasibility: Evaluate new feature requests for technical risk and effort, providing high-level estimates and alternative technical paths to achieve business goals.
  • DevOps Culture: Advocate for and implement best practices in IaC and CI/CD, ensuring our deployment cycles remain fast and reliable.
  • Mentorship & Quality: Drive technical excellence through deep code reviews, pair programming, and setting the standard for documentation and testing.

Our Tech Stack

  • Front-End: TypeScript, React.js, React Query, Storybook
  • Back-End: Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL (via TypeORM)
  • Infrastructure: Serverless Framework, AWS Lambda, Terraform
  • AI/LLM: AI SDK, LangChain.js, Agents SDK for building AI-native features
  • Workflow: Fully automated CI/CD with daily production deployments

Requirements

  • Experience: 7+ years of professional software development, with meaningful time in a senior, staff, or founding engineer role. High-growth SaaS experience is a plus, but we value builders who’ve shipped products from zero-to-one just as much as those who’ve scaled existing platforms.
  • Full-stack Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in the TypeScript/Node.js/React ecosystem. You should be equally comfortable optimizing a React component and debugging a PostgreSQL query.
  • Cloud-Native Mindset: Strong experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred, but GCP/Azure experience with willingness to learn is fine). Comfort with IaC (Terraform or similar) and event-driven architectures.
  • AI-Augmented Workflow: You actively use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) in your daily development and can demonstrate how they change your process — not just autocomplete, but planning, architecture, and code generation. You should have built something with LLMs beyond wrapper APIs: RAG pipelines, agent architectures, or production AI features.
  • Product Fluency: You think in terms of user value, not just lines of code. You can explain complex technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders clearly.
  • Execution Focus: A proven track record of taking products from initial concept to production. We care more about what you’ve shipped than what you’ve designed on a whiteboard.
  • Communication: Fluent English. Clear, concise async communication. The ability to influence without formal authority

Nice to Have

  • Experience as a founding engineer or early-stage technical co-founder
  • Production experience with LangChain.js, LangGraph, or similar agent frameworks in TypeScript
  • Experience migrating or evolving legacy architectures while keeping the product running
  • German language skills

  • Remote (EMEA, GMT±2) | Ideally DACH region with occasional Cologne office presence
