As a Sales Engineer in Germany, you will be able to provide a single point contact for international Engineering contractors, consultants and Licensors. Managing the defined territory and leading strategic focus with regular interface for assigned accounts. Primarily responsible increasing OE sales from early identification of feasibility/FEED studies and targeting EPCs through their Engineering and procurement process whilst liaising closely with RP end-user sales to ensure an effective sales process.

Main responsibilities:
  • One Face One Customer: Single Point of Contact calling on customers in the territory on a regular basis to grow the business in all project market segments, according to the guidelines established.
  • Grow business in all project market segments by calling on assigned customers on a regular basis to ensure RP are invited, considered and possibly preferred by key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain active relationships with buying influences and develop new relationships to maintain and grow customer / territory interactions through extended RP offerings and solutions.
  • Identify ways for RP to extend our relationship with existing customers through defining needs and applying suggested solutions, which may benefit customer metrics.
  • Represent all Ruhrpumpen products as defined in sales strategies.
  • Partner with customers to understand project specifications and scope requirements to ensure proposals are generated to meet requirements.
  • Negotiate orders, including all technical, commercial, and legal terms and conditions to mutual satisfaction of all parties.
  • Travel to customer locations to ensure close and regular face to face contact per company guidelines.
  • Entertain customers during and outside normal business hours on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for all customer / territory communications and interactions through daily update in CRM and forecasts which includes industry / market / account competitive analysis to support management strategy development.
  • Maintain all company tools in good working order.
Job requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar.
  • Candidates must be fluent in English, other languages such as German, Dutch, and/or French may be considered beneficial to the region or role.
  • Extensive understanding of the Engineering contractor process; from feasibility to construction.
  • Thorough understanding of tender processes including technical specifications combined with the ability to translate requirements into product sales strategies.
  • Confidence to proactively develop Engineering accounts and challenge customers to accept new ideas.
  • Understanding of customer objectives; identifying new accounts and ability to translate into a strategic vision for implementation.
  • Upon training the Project Sales role is expected to size, select pumps and be able to produce new equipment proposals utilizing RP quotation & CRM tools.
  • Availability and willingness to travel to customer locations up to 50% of the time.

The story of Ruhrpumpen, a name derived from Germany's Ruhr river and the German word for 'pump', began its journey in 1950. Its origins are rooted in the industrial heartland of Witten, Germany, where, in the aftermath of World War II, it started as a modest operation named Ruhrpumpen GmbH Wende & Hentschel. The initial focus was on maintaining and repairing existing pumps of all kinds and manufacturing spare parts. As the post-war era spurred new construction and industrial growth, the demand for new pumping equipment surged, particularly for the shipping industry, followed by pipelines and refineries. This necessity became the mother of invention for Ruhrpumpen, shaping its early product portfolio and setting it on a path of continuous evolution and expansion.

The company's trajectory was marked by a series of acquisitions and mergers, reflecting the dynamic nature of the industrial landscape. In 1955, it was acquired by Rurhstahlwerke and later, in 1963, by Rheinstahl Hüttenwerke. A significant merger with Thyssen in 1974 saw Ruhrpumpen become part of a major industrial conglomerate for over two decades. However, a pivotal moment arrived in 1997 when the Mexican family company, Corporación EG, led by the visionary entrepreneur Cesar A. Elizondo Villarreal, acquired Ruhrpumpen. This was a landmark event, marking the first time a Mexican entrepreneur invested in a German industrial company. This acquisition was not just a change in ownership but a fusion of cultures and expertise. Corporación EG, with its own strong history in manufacturing since 1979, brought a new dynamism. The acquisition of the Flowserve (Byron Jackson) factory in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2000, was another strategic milestone, opening up the vast US market. Under this new leadership, Ruhrpumpen transformed into a global, family-owned powerhouse, dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and servicing highly-engineered pumping solutions for critical industries like oil and gas, power generation, chemical processing, and water management across the globe.
