About Rewiring America

Rewiring America is the leading electrification nonprofit, focused on electrifying our homes, businesses, and communities. We develop accessible, actionable data and tools, and build coalitions and partnerships to make going electric easier for households and communities. Rewiring America helps Americans save money, tackle nationwide emissions goals, improve health, and build the next generation of the clean energy workforce. We believe in an abundant, flourishing, climate-safe future, and know that, together, we can realize one.

Position Summary

We are growing our team and seeking an entrepreneurial, technical, and versatile product manager to join our product, design, engineering, and data science team. You will be responsible for managing our current and future products focused on electrification incentives. The tax credits, rebates, discounts, financing, and other programs that help defray the cost of electrification upgrades are critical for making the math work for households, but too often they are difficult to understand and access - both for the end consumer and for the companies that serve them. To solve this problem, we have built our flagship calculator, an incentives API behind it, and co-founded the NODE Collective to govern data standards and an open source incentives data set. This product manager would define the strategy and execute the tactics of our strategy on electrification incentives.

What You’ll Do

You will be the product manager leading our Incentives calculator, incentives API, and use of incentive data across current and future Rewiring America products, including the Personal Electrification Planner. As the PM, on day one, you will have a wide swath of responsibilities and ownership for making these products successful and be responsible for wearing multiple “hats.” You will serve as the product manager for the incentives team and build a short- and long-term roadmap and strategy that delivers on user needs. You will project manage launches and releases of incentives in new geographies and work with our Policy and Communications teams to manage external needs and expectations. You will serve as a domain expert and point of contact for key ecosystem stakeholders and users, such as state energy offices and utilities, electrification companies, and non-profits with work in this area. You will provide support for users of our API and aggregate feedback from consumers who use our calculator. Over time, you will build and shape a team around you that can specialize and own portions of these responsibilities.

In addition to incentives, we expect to grow our APIs and data platform to serve other use cases for our users, and you will identify opportunities and make the case for investment in new products and services.

To be successful in these role, you will need to:

  • Build deep knowledge of the electrification ecosystem and how we can accelerate market transformation through software
  • Collaborate closely with internal product, design, engineering, data science, policy, and research teams on near-term needs and long-term goals
  • Collaborate with design on user research and testing to inform priorities and releases
  • Cultivate an engaged group of external partners who use our APIs and give us feedback to improve
  • Draft product briefs that both scope the near-term priorities and articulate a clear product and ecosystem strategy for our work
  • Collaborate closely with engineering on data standards and structures, technical specs, and internal and external API documentation
  • Define a sustainable data collection and maintenance strategy
  • Shape and execute on an open source strategy (starting with NODE Collective) that allows others to build on our work
  • Create clear success criteria, measure usage of our product, learn and iterate
