The Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System QE Team is looking for a Senior Software Quality Engineer to join our team in EMEA. In this role, you will work within the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System kernel hardware enablement QE team and be responsible for testing the kernel subsystem and associated user space packages as they pertain to enabling new hardware platforms. As a Senior Software Quality Engineer, you will design and develop automated/CI testing and tooling to ensure the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System fulfills the highest possible enterprise quality, performance, usability, supportability and certification criteria. Within this role you will closely interact with development, partners, and management at Red Hat. You will need to have the ability to think creatively and adapt to rapid change, as well as a willingness to learn new things. What you will do:
- Work in a cross-functional team to ensure the quality and delivery of a seamless kernel experience for the Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System in alignment with functional safety requirements
- Design, develop and maintain automated test suites written in Python, Bash, and C; develop frameworks to simplify test development and automation related to hardware.
- Onboard automated tests into a continuous integration (CI) workflow. - Perform both automated and manual testing. Debug, report, and track issues and verify fixes.
- Assure continued quality and user experience of tested products and assess quality of newly developed and planned features.
- Document and maintain test specifications and test reports.
- Provide timely, complete, and accurate test status reports to all stakeholders
- Work with software engineers, quality engineers, and product and project managers to analyze and prioritize quality risks, identify tests required to mitigate them, and ascertain the appropriate test levels
- Focus on delivering customer value, analyze feedback, and enhance test coverage by automation
- Work in a fast-paced Agile environment
- Mentor junior team members
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related engineering field, or relevant professional experience with 5+ years of experience in Linux quality engineering (QE) or software engineering or devops
- Solid professional skills and background in Linux system administration, including system installation, configuration and maintenance
- Hands-on experience with Linux Kernel and Bootloaders
