We’re looking for our next Team Lead, Software Engineering. Could It Be You?
This role is directly responsible for providing strategic guidance, and technical lead for Questrade Mobile app.
The principal challenges of this position are to lead the research, and implementation related to hybrid mobile development; to understand business needs and direct others in enhancing Questrade Mobile app, and to apply and establish standards and best practices with regards to mobile technologies.
The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced developer who has designed, developed high performing and scalable applications in tight cooperation with designers, product management, quality engineers, iterating daily and contributing to maintaining a healthy build using Agile practices.

• Team Leadership & Management:
◦ Lead, mentor, and guide a team of React Native developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
◦ Conduct regular code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
◦ Plan and assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery of projects.
◦ Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.
◦ Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other stakeholders.
◦ Recruit, onboard, and train new team members.
• Technical Leadership & Development:
◦ Architect and design robust, scalable, and maintainable React Native applications.
◦ Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
◦ Stay up-to-date with the latest React Native trends, technologies, and best practices.
◦ Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
◦ Optimize application performance and ensure a seamless user experience.
◦ Contribute to the development of reusable components and libraries.
◦ Lead the implementation of automated testing strategies.
◦ Work closely with product managers and designers to define and refine product requirements.
◦ Participate in Architectural decisions.
• Project Management & Planning:
◦ Collaborate with product managers and stakeholders to define project scope and timelines.
◦ Estimate development effort and resources required for projects.
◦ Manage project dependencies and risks.
◦ Ensure projects are delivered on time with high quality
◦ Participate in Agile ceremonies.

• Experience:
◦ Proven experience as a React Native developer with a strong portfolio of successful mobile applications. ( prefer 7 - 10 years React Native experience)
◦ Demonstrated experience leading and managing a team of developers.
◦ Extensive experience with JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern front-end development practices.
◦ Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and other backend services.
◦ Experience with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Recoil).
◦ Experience with native mobile development (iOS or Android) is a plus.
◦ Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Skills:
◦ Strong understanding of React Native architecture and best practices.
◦ Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
◦ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
◦ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
◦ Strong organizational and time-management skills.
◦ Ability to adapt to changing priorities and technologies.
◦ Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Education:
◦ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with native module development.
• Experience with mobile testing frameworks (e.g., Jest, Detox, Appium).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with performance profiling tools.
• Contribution to open source projects.
