The Coder applies appropriate ICD10-CM/PCS and CPT 4 code sets to discharged inpatient and outpatient electronic health record documentation for the purpose of indexing, reimbursement, research, and compliance with federal regulations. The coder abstracts pertinent information from the health record into EPIC system for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing. The coder collaborates with physicians to provide accurate documentation for optimal assignment of codes for reimbursement and outcomes analysis. This position reports to the Coding Supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
- Upon hire: Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders
- Upon hire: Certification from American Health Information Management Association
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: AHIMA approved coding certificate program.
- 1 Acute hospital-based coding experience – Inpatient, ED, ASU; experience through practicum of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Management program and HIM department background experience.
Senior Coder:
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree and/or higher degree in a healthcare related program
- Upon hire: National Certification from American Academy of Professional Coders, or
- Upon hire: National Certified Coding Associate - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Certified Coding Specialist - Physician - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Certified Health Data Analyst - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Administrator - American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: National Registered Health Information Technician - American Health Information Management Association
- Upon hire: Coding certification from American Health Information Management Association, or
- Upon hire: Coding certification from American Academy of Professional Coders
- 1 year Acute hospital-based coding experience – Inpatient, ED, and ASU.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in a Health Information Management or Health Information Technology or Healthcare related field.
- Coursework/Training: AHIMA approved coding certificate program is required for those who do not have the RHIA, RHIT certification.
- 1 year hospital based HIM department background experience or experience through practicum of an AHIMA accredited Health Information Technology or Health Information Management program

Coder, Everett (Everett, WA) Min: $28.69 – 49.42
Senior Coder, Everett (Everett, WA) Min: $29.88 – 51.53
