We founded Primer with a simple, yet powerful belief: payments should empower businesses, not hold them back. My co-founder, Paul, and I witnessed firsthand the frustrations merchants faced while working at PayPal and Braintree. We saw how rigid, fragmented systems were not just inefficient, but were actively stifling innovation, limiting growth, and creating unnecessary headaches. The 'full-stack' offerings from payment service providers couldn't meet the dynamic needs of modern, global businesses. Merchants wanted the freedom to customize their payment stack, using the best services available in different markets, but the existing infrastructure was a barrier. It was clear to us that the status quo had to change.

That's why we created Primer. We are on a mission to bring true openness to the payments ecosystem by building the world's first automation platform for payments and commerce. We provide a unified infrastructure that breaks down barriers and makes payments accessible for everyone.
