Scope of Work

Prime is seeking an Impact Accountability Fellow for CRANE, a free and open source tool used to calculate forward-looking impacts of emerging technologies using Project Frame’s Pre-Investment Methodology. The tool aims to help early stage investors and climate ventures identify solutions with the highest climate impact by making impact calculations more accessible. With over 5,000 users subscribed and the official launch of The CRANE Tool at San Francisco Climate Week, CRANE is influencing critical decisions today and will expand substantially this year. We are seeking a Fellow to support CRANE in maximizing its benefits to as many ventures and investors as possible.

This role will have two main responsibilities: to further support existing users in their user journey and to help expand the user base of The CRANE Tool. The former includes activities such as expanding our training materials, providing 1:1 user support, collecting feedback from users for the further development of the tool, and establishing a CRANE community of practice. Expanding CRANE’s user base involves activities such as outreach to organizations that may benefit from the tool, hosting tool workshops, and contributing to development strategy. The Fellow will report to Prime’s Impact Accountability Manager and will work in close collaboration with Prime’s CRANE development partner, Rho Impact. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Existing User Support

  • Develop training materials in a variety of formats including: tutorial videos, slide decks, and the software wiki
  • Respond to incoming messages from users on Slack and email
  • Distill user support outcomes into targeted guidance for long term software enhancement; integrate generalized support responses into the wiki
  • Research and develop a strategy for a user community around CRANE that addresses user needs

User Expansion

  • Source and contact organizations to introduce them to our tool
  • Host training sessions and webinars to attract and onboard new users
  • Continuously collect, organize, and translate feedback from current and potential users to contribute to our strategy for how to further develop the tool and ensure alignment with user/industry context

Impact Accountability Team Support

  • Work collaboratively with Prime’s Impact Accountability team to provide the CRANE user perspective
  • Conduct research as needed to complement additional team programming and activities

Shared Expectations

  • A commitment to Prime’s mission and values
  • Assertive ally for racial equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Active participant in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging training
  • Collaborative with a sense of humility
  • Intrinsic, driving motivation to mitigate climate change
  • Self-motivation and flexibility
  • Willingness to be a productive member of a team, respecting differences while working toward shared goals

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Comfort and experience with quantitative analysis. Impact forecasts are underpinned by a series of mathematical transformations and this role requires the ability to speak to the mechanics of impact calculation methodologies. Experience with related methodologies in life cycle analysis, carbon accounting and technology market forecasts will be helpful.
  • Experience in the climate tech landscape including exposure to climate investors (PE, VC, angel investors), accelerators/incubators and start-ups or institutions developing climate technologies.
  • Experience with product user research and user experience design. Especially beneficial if this experience was for a software product.

Core Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills. Particularly effective at delivering engaging presentations, discussing impact forecasting with a diverse group of users from a range of backgrounds and geographies, and crafting written communications that represent the professionalism and quality of CRANE.
  • Strong organizational skills to keep track of communications and projects with various stakeholders engaging with CRANE.
