Summary
The HIVE Support Engineer oversees daily operations, maintains and optimizes Analytics Platform HIVE-managed data environments, and ensures reliable data flow across platforms. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, performance tuning, and coordinating team efforts to improve processes and data integrity.
Responsibilities
Deliver daily operational support including troubleshooting user issues and system incidents
Optimize resource allocations, create schemas, and perform routine system maintenance and upgrades
Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of HIVE-managed data environments
Coordinate team efforts in monitoring batch jobs and resolving operational incidents
Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to troubleshoot issues and implement improvements
Requirements
3+ years of experience in big data technologies, SQL, and workflow orchestration
Proficiency in HiveQL, SQL, and Hive performance optimization including data partitioning and indexing
Experience in data modeling and schema design
Ability to build automated data pipelines and operational workflows using Python, Shell scripting, or similar languages
Hands-on understanding of Hadoop ecosystem including HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, Spark
Education/Certification Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
Clearance Requirements
- Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; an active Secret clearance is required.
