About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and strategic Controller to join our growing team. This is a leadership role for a seasoned finance professional who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments. You’ll be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations while driving structure, internal controls, and financial processes that ensure accuracy, compliance, and scalability. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader with deep expertise in US GAAP, a strong operational mindset, and a proven ability to manage audits, accounting teams, and financial processes in complex, high-volume environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), month-end close, general ledger management, tax filings, and audit preparation.
- Ensure financial statements are prepared in compliance with US GAAP.
- Design, implement, and improve internal controls, accounting systems, and financial processes.
- Manage and mentor a high-performing accounting team; ensure clear delegation, performance tracking, and professional development.
- Lead the preparation and execution of audits, liaising with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Drive process improvements and standardization across the finance function.
- Monitor and manage working capital needs, particularly in high-volume environments (e.g., marketplaces, ecommerce platforms, or transaction-heavy businesses).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, contributing insights for budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
Qualifications:
- 12–15 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a Controller or senior leadership role.
- Deep expertise in US GAAP and tax compliance requirements.
- Strong experience managing audits and working with external auditors.
- Demonstrated success in leading accounting teams and managing people in a remote setting.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Highly organized, disciplined, and detail-oriented.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a process-driven mindset.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
- Bonus: Experience in marketplace or high-volume transaction environments (e.g., ecommerce, fintech, logistics).
Location Requirement:
Candidate must be based in the Philippines and available to work partially overlapping hours with a U.S.-based team.
